Think about someone you love so much (boyfriend, girlfriend, fiance, husband, wife). You can’t wait to spend time with that individual, hear their voice on the phone when you call or when they call you, or even receive texts from them telling you how much they love you or that they are thinking of you throughout the day. You are in love =D. There’s something about this person that makes your heart melt. But what if all of a sudden this individual starts to carry on so many responsibilities that all they tend to focus on the most is school, their job, career, family, friends, etc. and somehow he or she just doesn’t have the time to go out with you on a date or spend quality time with you? Your 2 hour phone convo turns to 15 minutes, and you both now only have the weekend to see each other, instead of everyday. All you hear is “I’m really busy srry, I’ll talk to you later”. Not a quite pleasing feeling right?
Well, truth is that at some point in our lives, God, who is so in love with us, who can’t wait to talk with us, to know about how our day went, or long to hear us tell Him that we love Him, and even better to show it to Him, yes this God, the one who showed us the greatest love by sending His son to die on the cross to pay the price on our behalf from all of our iniquities… feels the same way.
Doing student teaching in a Kindergartener classroom this last semester in college has been fun but pretty tough so far.. more like a bittersweet feeling. I constantly found myself being busy all day everyday, physically exhausted but spiritually dry. The responsibilities kept on increasing but the sad part is that God was not receiving the best of me. I was allowing my busyness (student teaching being one of them), get the best of me, leaving me spiritually dry bc of the lack of intimacy with Jesus. He wasn’t receiving my profound love that He deserves “loving Him with all of my heart, mind, soul, strength” Matthew 22:37. In a way, school became my idol :O. Sadly, my first love in a way became an option…
Can we be too busy for God though? This just doesn’t make sense. “If your too busy for God, change your schedule” -Joyce Meyer. We shouldn’t work God into our schedule but work our schedule around God.
In a letter to a church in Ephesus, Revelations 2:4 states “But I have this against you: you have abandoned the love you had at first”. Have you forgotten about your first love Jesus Christ? Maybe you have been too busy, or maybe you have been so distracted… any idols that needs to be teared down? I sure was too busy for my first love. But now, I returned to Him. And I can’t even describe how my shift to spending more time in His presence and in HIs word has been turning out =D. I can see the changes! I’m giving Him all of me bc He deserves it and bc He truly won my heart <3
Remember your first love. Go back to Him.
His beloved,
<3 Jenn
You Better Go FORTH JEN!
It is good to have this kind of realization before you stray so far from him and then your lost cause we are lost...
